Housing Catalogue

The BuildingIN Housing Catalogue will allow cities to get more housing built faster, with permit-ready drawings. These designs can be constructed after municipalities implement BuildingIN overlay regulations and investment strategies. With our overlays in place, builders will also be able to create their own designs for multi-unit low-rise housing.

With advice from builders and architects across Canada, our team has developed infill drawings that address the key elements needed to build infill at scale. The Catalogue designs have been coordinated with all elements of the BuildingIN Program. The Catalogue brings our overlay and investment strategies to life. Similarly, the design of the infill buildings in our Catalogue has informed the design of our BuildingIN overlay strategy and Program.

What’s Included in the Catalogue?

The BuildingIN Catalogue includes designs for multi-unit, low-rise infill for all lot sizes and for 2 and 3 storey neighbourhoods. These designs are suitable for repeatable conventional, flat-pack, and factory-assembled modular construction. Builders, developers, and modular factories can adjust the designs to suit their specific business models or manufacturing/construction needs.

The Catalogue shows the types of housing possible within the BuildingIN overlay, demonstrating that infill fits well in existing neighbourhoods. This is crucial for gaining resident acceptance and encouraging investment from developers and builders. These permit-ready drawings will enable construction to start quickly after cities complete the BuildingIN program, speeding up the creation of new housing.

Available Designs

We are excited to release our first two designs, the Walkway Towns and Urban Six, and will release more in the coming weeks.

“BuildingIN’s Walkway Towns and Urban Six designs address the economic need for accessible housing, the ability to build infill at scale, and aesthetically enhance existing neighbourhoods.”
